YOU DON’T WALK INTO A BIG EVENT WITHOUT PROPER TRAINING AND DEDICATION

20 05 2014

Since last year the KDA-UK karate team had started preparing for the Kizuna World Cup through our squad training and competition exposure.  To achieve success requires the dedication from the coaches, the students and the parents to our program of instructions.  We join numerous competition not because of the medals but because we want to instill character traits into our students such as fortitude and sportsmanship to name a few.  And for whatever endeavour they may undertake later in life, they will appreciate the fact the hard work pays off.  The results speak for themselves.

Please be there at 8:00 a.m. especially the coaches. We will have a coaches meeting at around 8:15 a.m. followed by registration of players. There will be 6 tatami matts which means that the main coaches will have their hands full and therefore blackbelts please help out in coaching our ranks if your event have not started. Make sure responsibility is passed on to a senior belt if you have to leave the area. Once again, please check your equipment. White and Red mitts and belts, soft shin pads, mouth guards, chest protector for girls, groin guard for boys. Head protectors are optional. Bring your regular belt for kata events. Make sure your gi is clean and presentable. No folding of trousers and sleeves are allowed. If these are long, it should be cut and stitched to proper lengths. Also bring an extra gi in case of a mishap. Drinking water and cereal bars or bananas for quick snacks as well as food (it’s going to be a long day). As we have said over and over to our players: “DO NOT THINK OF WINNING, DO NOT COUNT YOUR OPPONENTS, ALWAYS THINK OF DOING YOUR BEST AND GIVING AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE”. GOOD LUCK TO ALL! GOOD LUCK TEAM KDA-UK!
